Why Lift Capacity Matters for Your Fleet

Because when your trucks are moving, your business is moving.

For businesses that rely on commercial vehicles, downtime is more than an inconvenience, it’s lost productivity, missed opportunities, and added costs. Whether it’s a service truck heading to a job site, a delivery vehicle making its daily route, or a utility truck supporting local operations, every hour spent off the road impacts the bottom line.

At Sedam Tire, we’ve spent nearly 100 years helping Western New York businesses stay productive by providing dependable tire and automotive services. As our customers’ fleets continue to evolve, we’re looking at ways to evolve with them.

Today, our automotive shop is equipped to service trucks up to approximately 12,000 pounds, including most standard 150 and 250 series pickups. However, many businesses now rely on larger vehicles such as F-450s, F-550s, utility trucks, service-body trucks, and medium-duty commercial vehicles equipped with 17.5″ and 19.5″ tires. These vehicles require specialized equipment that many automotive shops simply don’t have.

Expanding our lifting capacity to 18,000 pounds would allow us to perform tire rotations, inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs, and routine service on a much broader range of commercial vehicles. Instead of coordinating with multiple service providers, fleet managers could rely on a single trusted partner to handle more of their maintenance needs under one roof.

The benefits don’t stop with fleet customers. Additional lift capacity would also improve efficiency throughout our operation. Heavier trucks currently occupy valuable space on our alignment rack and in the back shop. By servicing these vehicles in the appropriate area, we create more room for automotive work while allowing our agricultural service team to remain focused on farm equipment and AG tire services.

This improved workflow means faster turnaround times, better use of resources, and increased capacity across multiple departments. In other words, everyone benefits, from fleet operators and farmers to local businesses and everyday drivers.

As Sedam Tire approaches its 100th year of serving Western New York, we’re always looking for ways to better support the customers who trust us with their vehicles. Investing in additional capabilities isn’t just about equipment. It’s about providing better service, expanding what we can do for our customers, and ensuring that businesses throughout our community have the support they need to keep moving.

Because at the end of the day, when your trucks are moving, your business is moving, and that’s what matters most.
